We gathered at Barrows Hall around 11:00 A.M. and headed for Mount Tamalpais. The hiking was really great, and the fresh air/perfect weather filled everyone with excitement. Afterward, we went to San Francisco Ocean Beach for a bonfire and barbeque. Even the wind and the cold could not spoil those very memorable moments as we gathered together and had a wonderful time. The space was filled with joy for the great service, with Chul’s message on the Sabbath and how we have relationships with people. After the service, chicken was served for lunch. It was a very happy and blessed time.

As the weather warms up, we hope that we will have more of these fun sports events in this spring.  Hope you can join us!

As we drove through Tunnel View and Glacier Point, seeing the waterfalls and Half Dome up close, we could only be in awe by the scene before our eyes. Many of us could resonate with David’s response to creation,“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?” (Psalm 8:1,3-4)Though we are so small in comparison to nature, when we see our rightful place in this world, we are reminded that there is a Creator who is mindful of us and loves us. Struggling up the hiking trail together and making it to the top was one unforgettable bonding experience that only reveals how wonderful relationships and friendships really are.

I was amazed at how well the guys could make good looking dumplings. Check out the pictures.

After making, cooking and eating dumplings, we had cake and ice-cream for dessert. We also gathered together and shared a little bit about ourselves in order to get to know one another. Overall, it was good food and good fun!

There were actually lights this time!

We also held our first LIFE group gatherings before dinner the Bible study where Chul talked about a very important question: What is man worth? Afterward, we headed over to Underhill Field to play soccer, frisbee, and dodgeball. The games got pretty intense, but with the cold San Francisco fog rolling in, we all needed to run hard to keep our blood pumping! Check out the photos here!

Shufei and Karen gave a presentation on what various LIFE Groups do: eat together, go on trips, celebrate holidays and special events with each other, take care of one another…basically, going through life together! We then watched the world premiere of the IUSM video! It followed the lives of four international undergrads who came to Berkeley with hopes and dreams, and ended up learning a little bit about themselves and their friendships as they thought about life. We then listened to a thought-provoking talk about “People” and the importance of relationships by Chul Kim, followed by some life stories by a couple of our members. Even though Underhill field was dark when we arrived for sports night, we made the best of it by playing frisbee and wild turkey in the dark, which made it extra exciting!

Don’t miss out on next week’s Bible study, which will be at 2040 VLSB next Friday at 6:30pm.

We started with dinner consisting of Hawaiian BBQ chicken and mingled in groups to get to know one another. We then watched a skit called “Race of a Lifetime” that impacted many students, followed by an inspiring talk on “Purpose” by Matthew Kim, that provided many students with a precious opportunity to take a “second look” at their lives. Though the place was crowded, we enjoyed the program and people, and had fun playing group games like “Scavenger Hunt” and “It’s All About the Numbers.” Check out the photos here!

Don’t forget that next Friday, August 26 will be our second International Student Welcome Night with the theme “People,” followed by a fun sports time. See you there!
